Ford are rolling out Stop Start in North America
Stop-Start is a relatively simple way for car makers to grab more miles out of every gallon of fuel a car uses by simply turning off the engine when it’s not being used. And it’s a technology that is rapidly spreading from the hybrid sector in to more mainstream cars. And high end stuff too, with Porsche rolling it out on the Cayenne and Panamera.
Audi A3 e-Tron Hybrid Shanghai - yet another e-Tron Concept
Where would we be at a major motor show without Audi and an e-Tron concept? So far we’ve had an Audi e-tron trundled out in everything from a super mini to a super car, and with a range of powertrains from a very sensible range-extender in the Audi A1 e-Tron to the frankly ludicrous claims of the first R8 e-Tron delivering 3,319lbs/ft of torque. What we get for Shanghai is the Audi A3 e-Tron.
The Toyota Prius MPV Facebook Tease
We reported back in May that Toyota were finally going to produce a Toyota Prius MPV – probably with an extra row of seats – in 2011. Which looks to be on the money if the photo above, which has turned up on the Toyota Prius Facebook page today, is anything to go by. The photo seems to make it clear that even though Toyota are using the tag line “The Prius family is getting a whole lot bigger” we should sensibly conclude that the biggest bit of bigger is that there will be an MPV and a plug-in.
